MEMBER FOR COWAN

ANNE ALY CONTINUES TO STAND UP FOR COWAN COMMUNITY

Today the Australian Electoral Commission released draft boundaries for the Western Australian redistribution.

The boundaries have significantly altered the Division of Cowan.

I have always fought for Perth’s northern suburbs as the Member for Cowan and will continue to fight regardless of the final boundaries.

I’m pleased that the AEC did not abolish the seat of Cowan named after the first woman elected to any Australian parliament.

Labor has a strong team in Western Australia that is standing up for the state and taking the fight to the Morrison Government regardless of the electorate boundaries.

Comments: Anne Aly

“I’ve always fought for my community in Perth’s northern suburbs and will continue.

“I’m energised to represent new electors under Cowan’s proposed boundaries and will continue to be a strong voice for every person in the current seat of Cowan.

“I’m glad the AEC rejected the Liberal Party’s proposal to abolish the name Cowan, which is an important part of Edith Cowan’s legacy as Australia’s first woman parliamentarian.”
