EGYPTIAN COPTIC CHURCH BOMBING

The bombing that killed 25 worshippers and injured 49 more at St Peter’s Church in Cairo on 11 December is the latest attack by DAESH, this time targeting Egypt’s Coptic Christian community.

As an Australian of Egyptian heritage, I condemn this brutal attack and send my condolences to the Coptic community both here in Australia and in Egypt.

An attack on any place of religion is an attack on freedom of religion everywhere and I stand with the 100,000 Australians of the Coptic faith against this terror.

I call on the Australian Government to pressure the Egyptian authority to bring justice to the Coptic community and take adequate measures to properly protect the Coptic community from the threat of DAESH terror.
