Delivering safer roads for Cowan
Funding under the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program will substantially improve 24 dangerous crash sites on Western Australia roads in 2023–24, including 3 projects in the electorate.
These projects include:
- $44,275 for installing overhead mast arms on both Malaga Drive approaches to intersection.
- $868,699 for improving road geometry on Mirrabooka Avenue approaches to roundabout and installing speed humps on both Montrose Avenue approaches.
- $1,350,000 for installing two-lane roundabout with pre-deflection on both Hepburn Avenue approaches and installing cycle lane bypass for westbound movement.
These projects are included in the $12.6 million of funding for Western Australian roads under the Black Spot Program’s 2023–24 funding round.
The Black Spot Program funds safety measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at locations where a number of serious crashes are known to have occurred, or are at risk of occurring.
These Black Spot projects will make an important contribution towards reducing serious injuries and deaths on WA roads, and build on previous investments in the state.
Member for Cowan, Dr Aly said “Across the state, the safety investments will make Western Australian roads safer for all road users.
In announcing this project, this Albanese Government recognises the importance of working with the McGowan Government to partner with local councils to deliver the program in the state.”
